Eco-Friendly Toddler Toys that Live Up to the Hype
As Wild One has progressed into a fully walking, climbing, but not-yet-talking (unless “NA-NA-NA” counts as a full sentence) toddler, I’ve packed away her baby gear and transitioned her minimalist toy shelf to be fully toddler-friendly. Because the world of children’s toys is SO saturated with marketing– and it’s so difficult to determine what brands might be eco-friendly or non-toxic– here’s a round up of a few of Wild One’s favorite things:
This adorable wooden toddler bike (Target) is perfect for a casual ride down the hallway, or preparing for a future career as a stunt-double.
These wood and silicone blocks (Bannor Toys) get pretty much daily use from Wild One, but mama might have just as much fun knocking them over! I also have these counting stars that I plan to add to the mix when Wild One is just a wee bit older.
An organic doll for dress up and tea time (Apple Park)– We have best friend Ella, but it looks like they just launched a larger line of dolls (including boys) here.
Cuddly stuffed animals (Elly Lu Organics)– These stuffed animals stand out for their adorable organic cotton exterior and corn fiber interior filling (note: the company is still phasing out recycled polyfill for its larger size animals). We have Gemma the Giraffe in the smaller, 8 inch size, which is perfect for night-time snuggles.
Shape sorter and stacking cups (Green Toys)– Wild One has loved all her Green Toys so far, but these are the ones that I think have the widest appeal. While Wild One started using her stacking cups around 5 months, she still enjoys them– and they double for bath time and outdoor water play. Their vehicles are also great for imaginative play.
These thick beeswax crayons are perfect for little hands and totally safe if they end up in your toddler’s mouth. Pairs perfectly with scratch paper, a cardboard box, or your walls.
And, of course, just about anything mama or daddy happen to be using!
