Promoting innovation, sustainability, and inclusive institutional transformation in higher education.
SUSTAIN is a multi-partner international initiative that strengthens the societal role of higher education institutions by embedding sustainability and community engagement into their core functions. It supports universities in evolving beyond traditional academic roles to become active contributors to socio-economic and environmental development.
The project brings together institutions, communities, policymakers, and industry partners to design practical systems that turn knowledge into action. Through shared learning, capacity building, and collaborative implementation, SUSTAIN helps universities respond to real societal needs while developing long-term structures for sustainable impact.

Empower universities to integrate sustainability, social responsibility, diversity, equity, and inclusion into teaching, governance, and institutional practices.
Strengthen Universities’ Third Mission
Enable higher education institutions to actively contribute to community engagement, socio-economic development, environmental sustainability, and industry collaboration.
Develop Institutional Sustainability Frameworks
Support the creation of practical frameworks, toolkits, and operational strategies that guide universities in implementing sustainability-focused initiatives and long-term institutional transformation.
Foster International Collaboration and Knowledge Exchange
Encourage collaboration, mobility, peer learning, and cross-cultural partnerships among universities and stakeholders across Europe, Vietnam, and the Maldives.
Enhance Capacity for Green and Social Innovation
Build the capacity of educators, administrators, and institutions to lead innovation in sustainability, climate resilience, CSR, and socially engaged higher education.
